Flowered Cross

This sculptured flowered Cross, with its intertwined rose buds, vines, and leaves depicts the “flowering of the cross”, representing the new life that emerged after the death of Jesus. The ENRI inscription at the top of the Cross is for the Latin words “Jesus Nazarenus, Rex ludaeorum” (Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews in English) that Pontius Pilate had written on the Cross (John 19:19-23). The Cross is made of cut steel nails, the roses and vines are copper, the leaves are brass and the ENRI label is copper. Gas welding with bronze and steel is the assembly method.
